O God, you have cast us off, you have scattered us, you have been displeased; O turn yourself to us again.

To the Chief Musician upon shoshannim – Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you that lead Joseph like a flock; you that dwell between the cherubim, shine forth.

I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

Let not the floodwater overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut its mouth upon me.

The sorrows of death surrounded me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.
